Letter of St John‘Carry on with St John’. If you wish to continue to learn about Johannine Christianity then this is the course of study to do. It is a four year course based on the First Letter of St John, drawing on two series of Rev Mario’s lectures on this letter (given in 1976 and 1978).
Where the Gospel of St John is described by Rev Mario as an initiation of our thinking, the Letter of St John is described as the ‘feeling initiation’. It involves becoming more conscious of this semi-conscious area of our lives. What is involved growing in love? What does it mean to walk in the light? What does it mean to be the little children of God? And what is begotten of God? The group work changes slightly in that all group members are asked to be ‘roving witnesses’ – perceptive of the forces at work in another member during the meeting. The Sacristan’s task is to elucidate the learning points evident behind both the individual’s experience and the group’s experience. In this study stream we ‘launch into the deep’.
